CADILLAC — Three women have opened a new salon in the last remaining commercial unit on the bottom floor of the Cadillac Lofts.

Gabriella Quist, Liza Campbell and Nancy McNally opened The Loft Salon in October.

Quist said they all had previously worked together at another downtown Cadillac salon but decided to branch out and try something on their own.

“We all wanted a change,” Quist said. “We liked the location (of the Lofts) and being part of the downtown community.”

Since opening, Quist said they’ve already benefited from their new location.

“All of us have gained new clients since being here,” Quist said. “We get multiple messages a day.”

Services offered at The Loft Salon include anything having to do with hair, including cuts and coloring. She said they also offer lash extensions and do permanent jewelry work.

Quist said they welcome members of the public to stop in anytime and check out all they have to offer, although those interested in being served at the salon will need to make an appointment ahead of time. Quist said while all three women work under the same brand name, they are independent contractors and set their own schedules.

The Loft Salon will be joining the four business already in the Cadillac Lofts: Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, Papa John’s pizzeria, Benny’s Froyo and Mo frozen yogurt shop, and Vickery Financial.

Jimmy Johns was the first shop to open in the Lofts in 2020, shortly after the first L-shaped building was completed. Construction of the second L-shaped building on the south side of the property has been stalled by higher construction costs and difficulties that developer Michigan Community Capital has experienced finding a way to finance the project.

In July, crews cleaned up on the undeveloped portion of the property, removing debris from previous demolition work and a fence that had been installed around the former G and D Pizza parking lot.
