College roundup: Local athletes competing at the collegiate level

• Calvin College sophomore Trevin Winkle (McBain NMC) recorded seven points, three rebounds and an assist in the Knights’ 84-71 win over Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Saturday.

• Concordia University-Ann Arbor junior Chloe Bisballe (Lake City H.S.) recorded four points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the Cardinals’ 67-51 win over Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday.

She also had two rebounds, an assist and a block in a 60-54 win over Cornerstone on Saturday.

• Cornerstone University sophomore Megan Bennett (McBain NMC) recorded five points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block in the Golden Eagles’ 60-54 loss to Concordia-Ann Arbor on Saturday. She also had one point and one steal in a 75-62 win over Lourdes on Wednesday.

• Grand Valley State University junior Rylie Bisballe (Lake City H.S.) recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block in the Lakers’ 68-26 win over D’Youville on Saturday. Sophomore Molly Anderson (Cadillac H.S.) had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

• Hope College junior Olivia Bellows (Lake City H.S.) recorded 15 points, four rebounds, an assist and a block in the Flying Dutch’s 68-51 win over Albion on Wednesday. She also had 11 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal in an 81-43 win over Olivet on Saturday.

Bellows was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for basketball for the first time in her Hope career.

• Mid Michigan College freshman Paige Ebels (McBain NMC) recorded 11 points, one rebound and two assists in the Lakers’ 66-51 win over Spring Arbor’s JV on Thursday.

Freshman Addysen Gray (Evart H.S.) had five points and four rebounds while freshman Leah Helsel (Manton H.S.) also grabbed a rebound.

• Lake Superior State University sophomore Lindsey Tonello (Cadillac H.S.) scored a goal in the Lakers’ 5-4 loss to Minnesota on Sunday.

• Michigan State University sophomore Oakley Mickelson (Cadillac H.S.) recorded a goal and an assist in the Spartans 7-3 win over Grand Valley State on Saturday.

• Eastern Michigan University sophomore Chloie Musta (Cadillac H.S.) took fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:12.81 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener at Boston University on Saturday.

• Grand Valley State University senior Klaudia O’Malley (McBain H.S.) took 28th in the 3,000-meter run in a personal-best time of 9:17.61 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener.

• Lake Superior State University freshman Nora Smoes (Reed City H.S.) took 13th in the mile in 6:06.21 at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Open. Junior Gwen Phillips (Cadillac H.S.) took 17th in 7:00.44, as well.

• University of New Haven junior Macy Brown (Cadillac H.S.) recorded 11 kills, 11 digs, two blocks, an assist and and ace in the Chargers’ season-ending 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20 loss to Mercy in the first round of the NCAA Division II East Region tournament Thursday in Garden City, N.Y.

Earlier last week, Brown was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-East Region Team, as well.

Brown, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year and D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, finished with 445 kills, 410 digs and 42 service aces.

The 445 kills had her at 18th in the nation as of last week.
